What Material Is Good For Children's Water Cups?

2023-09-06

1. There are two main types of drinking cups for children on the market: stainless steel and plastic.

2. Stainless steel children's drinking cups are mainly thermos cups. According to different drinking methods, thermos cups are divided into two types: direct drinking type and straw type. According to different stainless steel models, it is divided into 304 materials and 316 materials.

3. For children over 3 years old, it is recommended to drink directly. Because of the direct drinking water cup, the cup lid can be used as a drinking cup. A 3-year-old child can pour water out to drink without drinking from the cup, and will not be choked.

4. From the perspective of safety and health, it is recommended to use a direct-drinking water cup. Because of the straw-type water cup, the food residue in the child's mouth will be left on the inner wall of the straw. If the straws are not cleaned that night, these food residues will be spoiled the next day, which is not good for children's health.

5. Furthermore, the straw is a kind of plastic, which is called food silica gel. Although silica gel is resistant to temperature, it will also age, and there are hidden dangers to health. The direct drinking water cup does not have the straw problem, and this cup is easier to clean than the straw type.

6. From the safety point of view of stainless steel, the water cup made of 316 materials is more environmentally friendly and safe than the water cup made of 304 materials. If you buy a thermos cup, it is recommended to choose a cup with a 316 inner liner first.

7. Children's drinking cups made of plastic materials are mainly divided into: PC (polycarbonate) material, PP (polypropylene) material, PPSU (polyphenylsulfone) material, and Tritan (copolyester) material according to the cup body material.

8. From the perspective of the safety and environmental protection of plastics, it is not recommended to use PC bottles for children to drink water. Because PCs will produce BPA (bisphenol-A) substances after hydrolysis, drinking water containing BPA substances for a long time is not good for your health.

9. Currently, European and American countries have banned the use of PC materials in infant drinking cups. PP (polypropylene) materials, PPSU (polyphenylsulfone) materials, and Tritan (copolyester) materials do not have BPA problems.

10. Sort by environmental protection: Tritan > PPSU > PP, and sort by temperature resistance from high to low: PPSU > PP > Tritan.

11. The Tritan material cannot withstand high temperatures. If you want to install hot water above 90°C, it is not recommended to use it. For children drinking water cups, if plastic materials are used, PPSU is preferred. Because PPSU has higher temperature resistance and is more resistant to aging.

12. Plastic cups also have direct-drinking and straw-type cups. It is recommended to purchase direct-drinking PPSU cups first.
